One watch collection: to be honest, my current watch featured on this post!

Model: Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date reference 1500 from 1973

Time owned: Almost 2 years

This is my first luxury watch. It was a wedding gift from my wife. A very pleasant surprise, and I couldn’t have picked a better watch for myself! Having been around my wife’s family and knowing their love for watches, it was hard to not fall in love with a Rolex. A total surprise and something that I wouldn’t have bought for myself!

Things you love about the watch?

I really love the simplicity of the dial and the colour of dial. The date is a very useful day to day function. The size is great at 34mm, it makes the watch very comfortable to wear. It has both a presence but can also glide under the radar. It has a vintage charm but thanks to the timeless design of the Rolex Oyster case remains completely current. It's accurate and running extremely well which is testament to Rolex's movement design. It is in amazing condition considering it is now 51 years old - it really has stood the test of time!

Do you have any dislikes about the watch? Really, nothing! It's quite perfect in my eyes.

Which environment or setting/attire do you think the watch is best suited to?

It is a very versatile watch - perfect for dressing up or dressing down for a more sporty look. I don’t wear it to work, but I look forward to coming home and putting it on in the evenings, even if I’m not going anywhere!
